About

English Bay Cycling Club

formerly English Bay Triathlon Club

Welcome

The English Bay Cycling Club (EBCC) promotes participation in road cycling in an inclusive, supportive, and non-intimidating environment. Our membership reflects the diversity of the community in which we live and welcomes queer and queer friendly cyclists in Greater Vancouver.

Our goal is to have fun and fulfil our need for endorphins on two wheels.

EBCC is operated as a not-for-profit organization by a volunteer board of directors. We are affiliated with the English Bay Swim Club and Vancouver Frontrunners.

Training

Cycling

We ride whenever the weather is reasonable, most commonly between mid-March to mid-October. We follow a tentative ride schedule, but the actual route will vary depending on current conditions and preferences of the group. Details are firmed up by e-mail a day or two ahead of the ride.

To accommodate cyclists of different abilities, we generally agree on at least one stop for re-grouping, preferably with coffee! Sometimes riders will get together after the ride for brunch, etc.

Training activities such as group rides and bike skill clinics will be posted. In addition, members are encouraged to identify their cycling goals, and share travel and lodging arrangements to attend out-of-town rides.

Running

Although EBCC is no longer a triathlon club, there are numerous resources available for our tri-oriented members. We have partnered with the Vancouver Frontrunners to assist you in improving your running.

Swimming

You might want to try one of the various local clubs such as:

Lees Trail Triathlon

Members of the EBCC also organize the Lees Trail Triathlon, a fun, non-competitive mini-triathon held annually at Second Beach in Stanley Park.
